"The external scars will eventually heal...but the internal scars seem to never go away"

"STAND UP SPEAK OUT", (S.U.S.O) was founded Spring 2005 a community outreach program against domestic violence and sexual assault. Founder Monica Daye organized S.U.S.O's first series of community events in April 2005 to promote awareness.  S.U.S.O also launches a community-wide collection drives in April and October, collecting personal hygiene items for the battered womens shelters and rape crisis centers in the state of North Carolina.

S.U.S.O. believes in order to truly make an impact and end violence we must get to the ultimate root of the problem and break the cycle of abuse. Therefore S.U.S.O believes we must not only rehabilitate the abused but also the victimizer.

Daye has featured at North Carolina Central University, East Carolina University, Duke University, Markham Chapel and lots of local and national venues. She has aired on K97.5 and 103.9 for a special broadcast, "Raising Awareness to the Community on HIV".

"And You Thought You Had Problems", the title speaks for itself.  A poetic biography of a young womans emotional struggles, and personal experiences.  The author, Monica Daye is a very unique and powerful writer who uses the pen as a therapeutic healing resource, and a substitute for a psychiatrist. In this book she tells about the many struggles she has faced, from the sexual assault, abusive relationships and her experience as a juvenile delinquent.  The book is a survivor's manual for those who are facing struggles in life.  The author truthfully admits that the book is heart breaking, touching and very emotional, but the time has come to heal. "I can no longer sugar coat the truth; for the truth is what has ultimately set me free from my past, let the healing begin". Author/Monica Daye

As a true survivor, Monica is a woman that has gone through many hard times, made it through, and now tells her story.  And You Thought You Had Problems is a book that is a must read and undeniably, a great addition to your book collection.
